This is a 5 lesson Literacy unit all about Mary Seacole. The plan is aimed at year 2 and gives details of the year 2 curriculum objectives covered. The children develop reading comprehension, writing, editing and SPaG skills during the unit.
All five lessons include a SPaG starter which is always linked to Mary Seacole.
The main activity in lesson 1 is a non-fiction reading comprehension, which helps children to learn about Mary. It is laid out in a SATs style format, containing similar questions to a SATs paper and is differentiated 3 ways.
The main activity in lesson 2 is a fictional letter comprehension, written from the point of view of a soldier about Mary Seacole. Again it is in a SATs style and is again differentiated 3 ways.
Lesson 3 allows children to gather vocabulary through drama and written activities. Lessons 4 and 5 allow children to write and edit their own letters as a soldier about Mary Seacole.
All resources are included that will be needed for the lessons.

This resource is a 3 lesson unit on Pentecost, suitable for using with key stage 2. There are details of activities and differentiation for each lesson. The first lesson involves children writing a poem, the second focusses on drama and the third allows for a more detailed piece of reflective writing, so it is perfect for extending literacy skills into RE. There are three powerpoints included in the price. One tells the story of Pentecost and the other two help with the introduction for Lessons 1 and 3 .

This is a set of three lesson plans to teach children about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. It is suitable for ages 4-7. The plans are very detailed (9 pages plus resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year.
Lesson 1 contains a brief overview of Judaism and Purim. Lesson 2 focuses on the story of brave Queen Esther. Lesson 3 teaches the children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim.
Each lesson starts with a carpet session. The children then split into five groups for activities. These include drawing, storytelling, dressing up and crafts. Across the three lessons the children have the opportunity to do all of the activities. The plans could be combined into one lesson with the children only doing one or two activities. There are three differentiated levels of objectives. There is an optional 18 slide PowerPoint to accompany the lessons which tells the story of Queen Esther and how Jewish people celebrate Purim. This is a bundle of comprehensions for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. They are aimed at Years 3/4.
The bundle contains two sets of booklets. There is one set of comprehensions about the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee covering a short history of the Queen’s reign, how the Queen and others are celebrating, ways that children can get involved and green projects.
The second set of comprehensions cover 70 years of British history and the history of the Queen’s reign. There is a section on each decade.
Each topic has three differentiated booklets. The higher ability booklets have three pages of text for the children to read before they complete a range of questions that are aimed at extending more able readers. (18 questions)
The middle and lower ability booklets have the text split into five separate pages with questions on each page. The middle ability has 16 questions and the lower ability contains 15 questions.
There are colour and black & white versions of each booklet. Answers are also included. All of the documents are in the zip files.
